Summary of Recent Copybrighters Article:
All of us here in the Spirit Sox family have always known our CEO and Founder, Lisa Riggs, as a powerhouse. She’s truly the heart and hustle behind the Spirit Sox company. She’s a motivated, passionate woman who built a brand with purpose, creativity, and a deep commitment to giving back. We’ve noticed these characteristics since the beginning but are excited that even more of the world is catching on to her influence.
We’re so thrilled to share that Lisa was recently featured in a beautiful spotlight article by Copybrighters, a content studio known for sharing the stories of mission-driven entrepreneurs breaking barriers and changing the game. Their piece, written by Flori Meeks Hatchett, dives into the heart of Spirit Sox the business, Lisa’s personal journey, and how our small but mighty sock company is making a big impact. And we couldn’t be more proud!
From Lisa herself:

“I didn’t wait for permission. I built the business I wanted to see in the world. That’s why being featured by Copybrighters means so much. It gave me the chance to reflect on the why behind Spirit Sox and how it all started with one simple idea: make a difference. What began as a middle school fundraiser turned into a custom sock company built on a mission to give back. From donating socks to homeless shelters and communities in crisis to supporting fundraisers and nonprofits nationwide, we’ve never lost sight of our purpose. In the interview, I shared the highs (like seeing our socks in Sam’s Club and Hudson News!) and the hurdles, like navigating funding as a woman-owned business and surviving the early pandemic days by pivoting fast. If my story makes the path even slightly easier for another woman entrepreneur, then it’s all been worth it. Huge thanks to the Copybrighters team for capturing this journey with so much care.”
Lisa Riggs, Spirit Sox Founder & CEO

If you’ve been a customer or fan from the beginning, you know that Spirit Sox started as a simple but commanding idea answering the question, ‘What if socks could be more than just socks?’ What if these articles of clothing could help schools raise money, bring awareness to causes, or give warmth and dignity to people who need it most? Lisa saw that possibility and built a successful business around it.
The Copybrighters article shines a light on that empowering vision. It tells the story of how Lisa went from having a career in HR to volunteering at her kids’ school to launching a sock company from scratch. It highlights the moment she realized socks could be the perfect fundraising tool and how a single school fundraiser turned into something so much more.
But what we especially loved about the article was how the author captured Lisa’s heart. It shared her belief that kindness matters and how much she dedicates to giving back while also elaborating on her grit through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. This story did a great job of sharing how difficult it can be for a woman to build a business in an industry where funding isn’t exactly handed out freely. Although this is an unfortunate aspect of business, Lisa’s perseverance through her career awarded her the level of success she is now seeing, as well as the honorable reputation of helping everyone she possibly can along the way.

“I didn’t start my business just for the profit of it; I started it for the whole experience,
and being able to give back is a big piece of that.”Lisa Riggs
Another fantastic highlight Copybrighters mentioned in this article was the inspiration Lisa spread to others for simply being herself. As a proud woman-owned company CEO, Lisa has always voiced her dedication to supporting women in the world of business. Copybrighters put it perfectly when they said, “It also has been uplifting for Riggs to hear from others that they consider her an impactful role model for other women and entrepreneurs.” Lisa has always been a well-respected authority figure to women she’s worked with but perhaps doesn’t realize just how much she impacts everyone around her:
“That’s also something I never envisioned, and it’s something I value so much and really appreciate,” she said. “If I can make the path just a little bit easier for those coming behind me, it’s so worth it. I’m willing to put in the work to do that.”
Lisa Riggs

From creating custom socks for fundraisers to donating thousands of pairs to homeless shelters across the country, Lisa’s commitment to using Spirit Sox as a force for good is at the core of everything we do. Copybrighters didn’t just tell that story, they celebrated it, and we’re so glad they did. They highlighted our partnerships with schools, nonprofits, events, and even big brands like the Women’s Elite Rugby League to show how far we’ve come. Lisa’s creativity has brought to life every sock design imaginable while making sure that every pair is made with intention.
At Spirit Sox, we’ve never been ones to slow down and soak it all in very often, but for this moment, it’s absolutely worth celebrating. We appreciate how the author illustrated how we’re not just about socks, we’re about expressing how a great idea, a giving heart, and a whole lot of determination can take you to the ends of the earth.
So, if you haven’t read the Copybrighters article yet, we think you should! Not just because it tells Lisa’s story, but because it tells your story too. You, our community, are the reason Spirit Sox exists and the reason why Lisa continues to receive more positive publicity. You all bring our designs to life, support our causes, wear our mission, and spread the kindness everyone deserves. So thank YOU as well!
And of course, thank you wholeheartedly to Copybrighters for your generosity and publication. We’re happy to know that now, more and more people get to see what happens when heart meets hustle!
